Chapter Three - I'm Sick Of This

I woke up to the sound of rain beating against the window. I groaned and sat upright. I’m going to have to walk in the rain now. I rolled my eyes and walked over to the closet pulling out my big umbrella. It was black with white hearts on it. It was really pretty, but also really heavy.
I grabbed some clothes from the closet also. A simple black tank top and a Jack Skellington jacket with grey skinny jeans and black vans. I took my clothes and headed to the bathroom. After I took a shower I got ready and started with make-up and hair.
Once I finished I heard yelling coming from downstairs. I frowned and went across the hall to my bedroom. I glanced around at the ceiling and band posters expecting them to jump out at me or something of that sort. I shook my head and snatched my purse, then heading for downstairs.
“I always overreact? You always overreact!” I heard my mom practically scream. “You’re never here! You know that right? NEVER!” She yelled even louder.
I cringed and slowly walked over to the door, hoping to avoid all of this. Too late. They saw me. I considered running for the door, but I’d never make it with my dad nearby. I grimaced and looked at them waiting for one of them to start yelling or hitting me and blaming this whole mess on me. Then I’d get the ice pack and head to school while getting there late. It’s happened before.
“Where do you think you’re going?” I heard my dad say. I kept my head hanged low, and my eyes fixed on my shoes.
“To school.” I said quietly. “I was just about to go…” I started but was stopped.
“JUST GET OUT THE HOUSE. It’d be better if you didn’t come back here anyway.” My mom yelled. I jumped at the sudden change in speech, and stumbled over to the door.
I felt tears welling up in my eyes, but I wasn’t going to stop, or look back. I’d deal with it; I mean people have worse to go through, right? Half way to the school I realized I was already crying, and I couldn’t stop. I didn’t try to anyway, might as well let it all out before I get to school.
It was that moment that I realized something. I’m sick of this, so sick of it. Everyone else has a normal life at my school, with parents who spoil them and pay no attention to what they wear to school. Judging from the looks of those girls clothing. But you see me, I couldn’t have that life. No. Just couldn’t.
